Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has picked up worldwide rights to
Detention, a movie co-written by
Mark Palermo and
Joseph Kahn. The movie, also directed by
Joseph Kahn, is billed as an apocalyptic teen romantic comedy complete with body-swapping and time-travelling. It stars
Josh Hutcherson,
Dane Cook, and
Spencer Locke.
Detention claimed the Youth Jury prize for best FutureWave Feature Film at the just-concluded
Seattle International Film Festival.
Detention premiered at the
South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, in March. I worked on the movie back in 2010, alongside
