The first Mortal Kombat project that we did was just a trailer. We shot it on the morning after seeing the first Mortal Kombat movie in the theater. It was like our very first 'proof of concept' video. We had a lot of fun shooting it and showed it to other kids in the neighborhood, which often convinced them to be in the next one. Eventually we started shooting "Mortal Kombat Movies" on a more regular basis, which were mostly fight montages set to music. These would feature as many characters as we had made the suits for. Late in the game, we decided to start writing and shooting additional scenes, to use as connective tissue, with plans to eventually edit a good amount of the material together into a feature length movie. As we got better at "making movies", we also shot more fights but as full scenes. This is one of those full scenes. Re-discovered, cut, and brought to life this month in honor of Halloween. So please travel with me back to Metamora, IL in 1998, into The Pine Street House side yard. I proudly present to you - Johnny Cage Vs. Smoke.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2025!
